The Betty Ross Trust provides financial support to help older people across Perthshire remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes.

Maximum grant award

£5,000

Most grants are in the region of £3,000. Every application is considered individually and supporting documents will be required.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Before you begin

The Trust’s primary purpose is to support people aged 60 and over who are in need because of age, ill health, disability or another form of disadvantage within the Perthshire area.

Individuals aged 60 and over

Applications can be made for practical support that helps an older person continue living independently.

Organisations supporting older people

Charities, community groups and other suitable organisations may apply for funding towards work that benefits older people in Perthshire.

Requests connected to a clear need

The application should explain the difficulty being experienced and how the requested support would improve safety, comfort or independence.

Applications with supporting information

Relevant evidence will be needed so the trustees can assess the request fairly and understand the cost involved.

WHAT MAY BE FUNDED?

Practical support at home

The Trust can consider a range of equipment and adaptations that help an older person remain in their own home for longer.

Specialist beds

This may include a hospital bed or other suitable equipment required for use in the home.

Specialist seating

Funding may be considered for chairs designed to improve comfort, mobility or day-to-day independence.

Bathroom adaptations

The Trust may provide partial funding towards necessary bathroom adaptations.

Other essential equipment or adaptations

Other requests may be considered where there is a clear need and the proposed support fits the Trust’s charitable purpose.

Supporting documentation helps the trustees understand the need, the proposed solution and the cost of the request. The exact information required will depend on the application.

Describe the current difficulty and how the requested equipment, adaptation or support would help

Provide current prices, quotations or other evidence showing how much the requested support is expected to cost.

Where appropriate, this may include information from a healthcare, care or support professional.
